Conference "Licensing of Fictional Literature“Subproject A01, organized by Daniel Arjomand and Nursan Celik, will host the conference "Licensing of Fictional Literature. Modalities of Epistemic, Ethical, and Aesthetic Authorization Processes." It will negotiate processes of authorization of fictional literature, which are paraphrased as processes of licensing. 01.07.2021 Guest Lecture by Jan Alber: Possible Worlds Theory, Fictionality and the Unnatural

The Collaborative Research Center 1385 "Law and Literature", which was established by the German Research Foundation (DFG) at the WWU Münster on 01 July 2019, investigates fundamental questions about law and literature, about the disciplines concerned with them, their basic concepts and methods, but also about their social and cultural significance.
More intensively than has been done so far in Germany, literary studies and legal studies are working together here as equal partners. The goal of the interdisciplinary dialogue is to open up and map a field of research in order to systematically examine fields of relationship between the two disciplines and to document them using relevant examples. The results claim to contribute to the clarification of essential aspects of law and literature. Thus, the Collaborative Research Center, which is scheduled to run for twelve years, promotes the further development of a modern understanding of law and literature, which in particular faces the challenges of fundamental as well as highly topical questions about the relationship between law and literature (especially the first funding phase), about Europeanization, migration and globalization (second funding phase) and about medial upheavals (third funding phase).
The SFB 1385 involves the departments of Literary Studies, Law, Jewish Studies, Slavic Studies, Arabic Studies and Islamic Studies, Economics, as well as the Institute for English and American Studies at the University of Osnabrück. It comprises three project areas with a total of 12 subprojects as well as an Integrated Research Training Group and an online encyclopedia.
