The Representation and Negotiation of Highly Intelligent Female Characters from the Nineteenth to the Twenty-First Centuries
Jessica Jumpertz's PhD-project focusses on the representation of highly intelligent female characters from a diachronic perspective. Her research considers how other characters' perceptions and attitudes towards the characters in question influences the representation, how dominant gender models are questioned and which cognitive processes are triggered through challenging these models. The representations of highly intelligent female characters are linked to dominant gender models in the different periods to make assumptions about recurring patterns or new developments.
