Teresa Turnbull - Impossible Bodies

Impossible Bodies – Character Bodies and Reader Cognition in Speculative Fiction

In her PhD-project, Teresa Turnbull focusses on the representation of impossible character bodies in speculative fiction, with a specific focus on sense-making strategies used by the reader to understand physically impossible representations of character bodies. At the center of this project are the processes of schema and blending theory, the influence of generic conventions as well as metamorphoses of gendered bodies.
