Studying Emotional Flow within Narratives
Monday, 04.11.2019, 18.30 Uhr
This was the third lecture of the lecture series. This lecture took place in lecture hall H09 in the C.A.R.L. (Claßenstraße 11).
Much of the power of stories comes from their emotional impact. Emotional shifts can occur throughout a story; a narrative may move from a lower intensity of emotion to a higher intensity, or change from positive to negative. This emotional flow can influence attention to the narrative as well as narrative outcomes. In this talk, I will present theories of emotional flow effects, studies examining outcomes of different emotional trajectories, and ways of manipulating and measuring emotional flow.
