Full Professor (W2) in Empirical Reader Response Studies and English Literary Studies at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities
We are inviting applications for the position of full professor in the area of empirical reader response studies and English literary studies, to be filled as soon as possible. The successful candidate is responsible for empirical reader response studies in research and teaching. They will teach broad areas of English literary studies, ideally with a particular focus on literature of the 20th and 21st century in English in all undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of the English department. Candidates are expected to be experienced in international networking and in methodological research in empirical literary studies. Moreover, we expect active participation in joint initiatives for externally funded interdisciplinary research within and beyond the faculty of arts and humanities. Experience in generating external research funding and a commitment to contributing to the international research centre ACCELS is desired. The English department is particularly committed to excellence in teaching and expects the successful candidate to demonstrate a track record of high-quality teaching and a continued commitment to advancing education activities. The successful candidate will be active in academic administration.
The requirements include a doctoral degree and additional research experience, such as a habilitation (post-doctoral lecturing qualification) or equivalent achievements gained as a university researcher or professor or in a research position outside academia. Teaching ability and dedication are essential and the application should include proof of this. Fluent German is not required to start the position but the successful candidate will be expected to hold classes in German within the first 5 years.
